Our Kids Bully-Proof program incorporates the best of Karate, Krav Maga and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Our younger students (4-7) focus primarily on basic skill development such as following instructions, working cooperatively with partners, punching, and kicking. As they become more familiar with our approach and confident in their abilities we begin to add some introductory jiu-jitsu techniques to enable them to become more complete martial artists.

Our older kids (7-12) and advanced kid’s classes have a more balanced approach between the different styles and the level of fun and excitement continues to increase as they progress. You may be familiar with Brazilian jiu jitsu as seen in the UFC. For years it has proven one of the most effective fighting styles in combat sports. But did you know it is also an excellent method of self-defense–especially for kids?

Jiu-Jitsu + Self-Defense = Kids Bully-Proof !

Our stand up self-defense program focuses on how kids should handle themselves when an opponent comes close to them. They are trained to keep their opponent away, break grips and look for an escape.

The unfortunate reality is that many conflicts end up on the ground which makes close contact grappling necessary. Jiu-Jitsu is particularly effective for teaching students, especially girls, how to escape safely.

The Gracie family, originators of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, placed a primary focus on protecting against attacks. By preparing the body as well as the mind, even the youngest students can learn to avoid dangerous situations and to protect themselves should the need arise.

Jiu-Jitsu taught in a safe and professional environment is good for kids of all ages. Kids can have fun and make friends all while learning how to protect themselves.

Our program is also designed to keep your child’s interest through play and to foster curiosity and learning in a group environment. Jiu-Jitsu is unique in that it is an individual art that must be practiced with multiple partners in order to improve. It teaches teamwork, cooperation, and the need to be self-evaluating and humble at all times.

Kids Self-Defense Classes

Our kid's standup self-defense program is based on striking from both traditional and modern styles. It is a blend of Karate and Krav Maga, with some influence from Muay Thai, Tae Kwon Do, and several other Martial Arts. Krav Maga provides easy to learn techniques that focuses on using leverage and technique rather than brute strength, so that techniques can work on an opponent of any size. Karate and other martial arts supplement this curriculum to provide a balanced system that can be adapted and used in any situation.

Students starting in this system will need a uniform and belt, as well as boxing gloves, head protection, and a mouth guard.
